My
faith
Religious faith to
me is an interpretation of life, a way for me to relate to other people, the
world and God. I find that my faith compels me to seek the improvement of
people's lives, to seek a more humane society in which the equality and dignity
of men and women are preserved.
I believe in one
God, who possesses the characteristics, qualities and images of male and
female. In God's image, I find myself living up to God in "other- centredness". I learn that we human beings are not
just living for our own self-interest, nor for our own nation, race or sexual
preference, but for the whole of humanity. Hopefully, one day, love and
kindness may be extended to the non-human world also.
I believe in Jesus.
To me, he is not just a man, but a person who really lived up to the values he
taught. Not only did he make friends on an equal basis — both male and female —
but his was a compassionate attitude toward human suffering, and an uncompromising
one towards human hypocrisy and evil deeds. As a woman follower of Jesus, I
feel that this empowers me to work with needy, underprivileged men and women to
achieve equality in society.
