THE PARTICULAR AND THE GLOBAL:

The Thai experience of peoples' struggles is seen in other Asian countries too. Dr. Seri Pongsipit talking on "Development in Asia" brought to focus the economic exploitation, the political domination and the cultural alienation of the Asian masses. He stressed the importance of popular education and mass organisation with a view to create an awareness and awakening of people to fight for a just and participatory society. The co-operatives and other short-term organisations are only temporary measures in the protracted struggle for the transfer of power from the elite to the masses, he emphasised quoting socialist experiences in Asia.

The Staff of the WSCF and Ms. Rakawin, staff member of IMCS Asia played a major role in linking up the various presentations to the international structures that oppress people in Asia.
