BIBLE STUDIES:

Two studies reflecting on the theme were led by Dr. I-Jin Loh of the United Bible Society. His first study was based on Prophet Micah. Through this study, the role and function of the prophet in the O.T. times were highlighted. Dr. Loh said that the primary function of the prophets were to "unmask the motivations and aspirations of religious and political leaders". The prophet’s advocated justice and the people were their primary concern. For his second study he based himself on the story of the "Good Samaritan" described in the Gospel of Luke to show the example of mercy and compassion. In both studies, he said, that God is shown on the side of the poor, and the victimised and that God's intervention in history is on behalf of the oppressed and poor and not for the maintenance of the unjust and unconcerned political and religious hierarchy.
