Question #1

What were your expectations of this "Leadership Formation Programme" when you came?

-     learn to work with people from different cultures

-     to understand the meaning and depth of basic human rights

-     understanding historical background of struggle through experience/information

-     to see the trends of socio-economic political issues in our countries/region

-     develop a new perspective of Christianity and find out about the Church's influence in the different cultures

-     learn what SCM/WSCF really stands for

-     learn how other SCMs cope with different problems they face e.g. being labelled as "Communists"

-     to promote a stronger sense of belonging and camaraderie

-     making connections for future cooperation – networking

-     learn to be more critical in our thinking

-     working towards the raising of our own/others' level of awareness

In your opinion/understanding and experience of HRD '87, what is/should be "Leadership Formation" and "Movement Building" in the SCM/YMCA/NCC-Youth/ Catholic Student Group?

-     character building

-     learning to/getting experience in dealing with group struggles/dynamics esp. as an international group

-     studying and sharing on issues to raise our level of awareness

-     learning to analyze socio-economic political situations

-     learn to be more critical in our thinking

-     to earn courage for raising your voice against injustices

-     to eliminate prejudice against other countries/cultures

-     to form opinions constructively

-     sharing resources/tools of analysis

-     to share not only descriptions of situations but also methodology and solutions

What is WSCF as a Federation to you as a member of SCM/NCC-Youth/YMCA/Catholic Student Group?

-     provides resources for leadership training

-     a network – people who share certain beliefs/commitments

-     linking all cultures/peoples i.e. east-west, white-Asian-Polynesian, Asian-Asian

-     to voice students views and opinions on an international level

-     gives us strength to fight for justice/equality

-     publication – educating us regarding people's struggles and situations in different countries with a Christian perspective.
