Programme Evaluation

The final session of HRD'84 was an evaluation by the participants of the effectiveness of the whole programme, both in terms of structure and content. Whilst there was a generalising as to the success of the programme as a whole, one difficulty pointed out was the problem of language. Although English was the common language amongst them, being Asians of various cultural backgrounds, the participants' degree of articulation in this former colonial language varied widely. Furthermore, there was a wide range of accents, with the consequent difficulty of understanding each other. Participants also urged that in future HRD programme the participants be asked to present in some form the cultural life of their people in addition to the customary "National Reports". Thereby, the other participants would understand better the particular response made by a particular people to their problems as described in the national report.

HRD'84 closed with worship conducted by the participants themselves. Reflecting on the composite, understanding of their Regional reality they had attained through the programme, the participants joyfully celebrated their greatly strengthened and confirmed fellowship in our Lord Jesus Christ. The worship ended with the singing of the "SCM Song":- "Come SCM, unite be one,....".
