RECOMMENDATIONS

 

Accordingly, the EFFT hereby recommends:

1)    Arrangements should be made for the visit of an International Medical Team to assess the health conditions particularly on alleged use of torture on political detainees in Korea.

2)    An International Ecumenical Fact Finding Team of high profile should be organised as soon as possible to visit Korea. The team should comprise of parliamentarians, journalists, church leaders, students, etc. from such organisations like WCC, CCA and WSCF.

3)    A seminar/consultation on human rights be organised either in Korea or Japan under the auspices of NCC-K and NCC-Japan to focus on the Korean situation.

4)    Ecumenical agencies like CCA, WCC and WSCF should facilitate visits of Korean students who can sensitize people of America, Europe, Asia and the Pacific, of the Korean situtation.

5)    A solidarity network be built in Asia for information, dissemination and constant monitoring of the Korean situation.

6)    Since the employment of National Security Laws and related human rights violations have become a common feature in many third world countries, investigative teams should be sent to such countries in order to raise international public consciousness.
